Workshop 2: Digital Learning - The Art of The Possible

    Thursday 12th January 2023 at 10am - 10.45am

The workshop aims to promote competency and knowledge of academics who are keen to develop online learning for their students. It is part of a collaborative research project that Learn Fox is supporting between the University of Portsmouth (UK), Shanghai Jiao Tong University (China) and Hanoi University of Science and Technology (Vietnam) funded by the British Council.

In the world of digital learning the technologies, tools and approaches to designing and creating effective digital learning experiences are vast and overwhelming. This session builds on the approach proposed in the previous session where the content itself should drive the delivery format for the most impactful learning experiences. We break down the types of tools educators have at their disposal, and showcase the ‘art of the possible’ in the design and creation of impactful digital learning experiences.

Laura Lee-Gibbs will be joined by Shane Traill, Director at First Media to share their expertise on the art of the possible.

Workshop 1: The Myth of Learning Styles

    Thursday 12th January 2023 at 9am - 9.45am

The workshop aims to promote competency and knowledge of academics who are keen to develop online learning for their students. It is part of a collaborative research project that Learn Fox is supporting between the University of Portsmouth (UK), Shanghai Jiao Tong University (China) and Hanoi University of Science and Technology (Vietnam) funded by the British Council.

The belief in learning styles is so widespread, it is considered to be common sense. Few people ever challenge this belief, which has been deeply ingrained in our educational system. Educators are routinely told that in order to be effective teachers, they must identify and cater to individual students' learning styles; it is estimated that around 90% of students believe that they have a specific learning style but research suggests that learning styles don't actually exist! This session focuses on debunking this myth and proposes an alternative approach to choosing the best delivery format for impactful learning experiences.

  • Learning Technologies Exhibition Seminar

Thursday 5th May 2022 at 3.30pm-4pm, ExCeL London

Since the pandemic, and in the wake of hybrid working, thousands of organisations have recognised the need to adapt their L&D offering and rapidly digitise their approach. The pressure to select a new solution is causing many to forge ahead without fully considering the right approach, the needs of their end users or the content required to be successful. This can led to expensive mistakes and a far-from-optimal experience.

In this fireside chat you will get the balanced perspectives from Learn Fox Founder Laura Lee-Gibbs and CCO of Learn Amp, Joe Hill-Wilson
